Time based targets are getting ever more embedded in ‘performance’ measures for public hospitals. Whether it’s a four-hour target from presentation to an emergency department to either discharge home or hospital admission, or time on a surgical waiting list defined by the urgency of need, time has attractions as a performance indicator.

AMA welcomes investment in general practice

The AMA welcomes the Government’s investment in general practice through primary care infrastructure grants.AMA President Dr Steve Hambleton said that the grants – totalling $54 million this round – would enable existing practices to expand and upgrade their facilities.
